Four People Shot at Howe Park - Unauthorized Gathering Turns Violent





On April 18 2026, an unlawful gathering of several hundred people at Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento turned violent when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots rang out as law enforcement officers were working to clearing the area.

How Events Unfolded

At approximately 6:30 PM, the SCSO got reports reporting persons reportedly carrying concealed firearms at the park. A second caller indicated a potential fight and individuals running from the park.

Law enforcement air support was deployed and surveyed the area from above but failed to identify any ongoing altercation.

Even so, several hundred people had collected at the park for what deputies referred to as an unsanctioned event. Law enforcement personnel positioned themselves around the park, turned on their emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes instructing attendees to vacate the area through their vehicle PA systems.

As deputies were in the process of dispersing attendees, upwards of 20 gunshots echoed through the area — sending hundreds of people running in every direction.

Victims of the Shooting

Four individuals more info — a woman and three men, all in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two sustained immediate injuries, one was classified with moderate injuries, and one with minor injuries. Each of the four victims was in stable condition. Metro Fire Sacramento assisted with on-scene medical triage in the field.

The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way side of the park near the Home Depot store at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The nearby Home Depot was temporarily locked down. Extra shell casings were identified on Cottage Way, with check here bullet impacts found in the wrought iron fencing bordering here the Home Depot — showing shots fired in a southward direction from along Cottage Way toward the store. CSI investigators and detectives processed the scene into the night.

The Suspect Vehicle

Over law enforcement radio traffic, it was Sacramento County Sheriff shooting investigation revealed that a suspect car — a Kia automobile — was detained in Solano County with four detainees. Sheriff's deputies were heading to Solano County to pick up the suspects and return them to Sacramento. Video evidence confirmed the involvement of two shooters.
